Jean Sauntry, a Sister of Saint Joseph of Chambery, has a Master of Divinity degree from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA (now Boston College School of Theology and Ministry). While working toward this degree, Sr. Sauntry completed a supervised year-long practicum in spiritual direction at the Jesuit Center for Religious Development in Cambridge. Sr. Sauntry also holds a Masters in Applied Theology from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. She has more than 25 years of experience in spiritual direction and retreat ministry, and has worked in these areas and in leadership on national and international levels.

Since the summer of 2003, Sr. Sauntry has directed Eight-Day retreats at The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos and has collaborated in mentoring Jesuit Theologians who accompany summer retreatants. She teaches Spiritual Direction in the Exercises as part of the Pierre Favre Program at Los Altos.

Sr. Sauntry is also a Rosen Bodywork Practitioner, and Rosen Movement Teacher, a work she approaches from a lifetime of study in the Judeo-Christian tradition, while respecting other religious beliefs and diverse cultures. She lives and ministers in Oakland, CA.
